TÜV Rheinland case study

TÜV – the German technical inspection association - stands worldwide for quality and reliability as well as ethical and moral conduct. To support the establishment of an internal IP centre of excellence and to take on administrative tasks, TÜV Rheinland started looking for an IP service provider. It was important to the Rheinland-based testing service provider to find a new partner which shared its values.

The challenge

Excellent technical solutions for diverse requirements

TÜV Rheinland’s main concern was to establish its own IP centre of excellence for its intellectual property rights - especially its trademarks - in order to be able to act independently and autonomously. In a first step, the internal know-how was to be structured by establishing TÜV Rheinland Intellectual Property GmbH in order to be able to make better strategic decisions. Another goal was to revise the IP management processes in order to reduce costs in the long term.

In addition to the introduction of IP management software, the company went in search of an IP partner to support the newly created TÜV Rheinland Intellectual Property GmbH in the insourcing of know-how. The new partner was to optimise and largely take over purely administrative processes.

Another challenge was to find a service provider who shared the company's values and acted in full compliance with all relevant regulations.
